Grounded, steady support for birth and postpartum. Offering relational care, birth presence, and honest guidance for women planning births in or near Tucson.
thirdspace doula
HI THERE. I’M THIRDSPACE DOULA
You don’t need a method or a mantra
You deserve someone who can sit beside you, fully present, while your birth is unfolding. Not someone trying to direct it or shape it into something it isn’t, but someone who can stay connected, stay calm, and stay with you through whatever big stuff birth brings your way.
Because birth isn’t something to perfect or “do right”. It’s something to meet with your body, your voice, your instincts, and your own way of knowing.
My hope for you is that you will be seen for who you are, held in your process, and supported in staying connected to yourself, even in moments that feel uncertain or intense.
I offer doula support without agenda or pretense that I know what is “best”. The kind of support I offer holds the sacred without turning it into a spectacle. It supports the logistics without mistaking them for the entire experience. It’s about staying with what’s real.
Meet Margo
Hey! My name is Margo. Since 2011, I’ve attended over 120 births in homes, hospitals, and birth centers. I previously practiced as a home birth midwife in Minnesota, but this new iteration of my work is something very different.
I no longer offer clinical care and I’m not midwifing in disguise. What I bring now feels more powerful, not less.
It allows me to be fully present without the split attention that comes with managing medical risk. It lets me support the whole arc of birth in a deeper, more integrated way. For me, it feels like an expansion of the parts I’ve always loved most, and I’m genuinely excited about it.
I’m honored to support women during one of the most profound transitions of their lives.
My role is to tune in to what’s actually happening and respond from a place of deep listening and trust.

Birth and postpartum support that’s personal, steady, and rooted in real relationship
Birth Doula Support
I offer grounded, steady support for women planning births in Tucson and the surrounding areas. This includes two to four prenatal sessions, either in person or virtual, where we focus on preparation, emotional clarity, and staying connected to what matters most to you.
When labor begins, I offer full in-person support. I’m on call starting at 38 weeks. Something unique is that I include birth photography if desired; this isn’t a separate service but part of how I witness and honor the story.
After birth, I provide four postpartum visits for rest, recovery, and integration, with the option to add on more support as needed.
Throughout our time together, I bring an IFS-informed lens to help process emotions, deepen insight, and support your system in moving through birth with as much internal alignment as possible.
I take a limited number of births each season so I can stay fully present and available to the women I serve.
I’ve supported births with epidurals, unmedicated labors, cesareans, births after trauma, births full of laughter, and births that asked more than anyone expected. I don’t bring an ideal version with me. I show up for the one that’s happening.
Birth doula support is $2500. Payment plans are available.
- TWO TO FOUR PRENATAL SESSIONS, VIRTUAL OR IN PERSON
- FULL IN PERSON SUPPORT AT YOUR BIRTH, ON CALL FROM 38 WEEKS.
- BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY INCLUDED IF DESIRED
- FOUR POSTPARTUM VISITS FOR REST RECOVERY AND INTEGRATION
- OPTIONAL ADD ON POSTPARTUM CARE FOR BIRTH CLIENTS
- IFS INFORMED EMOTIONAL PROCESSING THROUGHOUT
Ongoing postpartum care:
After your birth, the support doesn’t end.
In addition to the postpartum visits I offer all birth clients, I also provide extended nervous system informed postpartum care on a session-by-session basis.
This may include emotional support, help with meal prep, understanding your physical healing process, basic well baby care, nervous system regulation tools, story processing, breastfeeding guidance, ritual and ceremony and help navigating the identity shift that often comes in the weeks and months after birth.
Having someone who can stay with you through that shift, who can act as an anchor while you find your footing, is sometimes the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling met.
You don’t have to be one of my birth clients to access this care.
If you’ve already given birth and you’re looking for grounded, personalized support as you adjust, I’m available to walk with you through that time. These sessions can be scheduled individually or as a short series, and they’re in person but can also be virtual if desired.
Sessions can be in person or virtual, and are available as stand-alone visits or packages.
- Single in-home session (about 2 hours): $150
- 40 Days Postpartum Package: $1500 for seven 2.5 hour sessions (other packages available on request)
- Virtual session (1 hour): $100
Who I Work With
I support women planning births in Tucson, Oro Valley, and nearby areas.
My clients don’t expect any sort of guaranteed outcome, and they’re not trying to avoid the hard parts of birth. They want support that’s clear, calm, and respectful. They want to be accompanied by someone who knows how to stay present when things feel intense.
This is for women who want to walk through birth with their eyes open, and who want to approach birth as a rite of passage.
What People Are Saying
“Margo was present with me for the birth of my first child. I could not have asked for more soulful, loving, empowering and excellent guidance and care getting ready for birth... I felt so safe and held in moments when I had to let go. Everyone should have that kind of presence available to them.”
— Magnolia
“During my birth, Margo was incredibly patient even when I was feeling stuck. I gained confidence from being with another woman who gets it — and Margo gets it.”
— Vanessa
“I can’t say enough good things about the care we received from Margo. She went above and beyond in showing me how to be involved in my care. Our trust and communication made for a positive birth experience.”
— Ashley
Why Thirdspace
Thirdspace is a term from postcolonial theory. It refers to the place between categories, the space where something new can emerge beyond labels.
Birth lives in that place.
To me, birth is fieldwork. Birth is ceremony. It’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational all at once.
For me, Thirdspace means we’re not pretending birth is all bliss, and we’re not bracing for disaster either. We’re staying present to what’s real, where your own authentic voice still matters most, and where something true can unfold no matter the external circumstances.
That is what I’m offering and that is where I’ll meet you.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.”
